Gothic Poetry

A Dragon’s Delight

In the distance there is a howl
Is it from pain or from pleasure
it’s mating season for the dragons
and tonight he seeks her treasure

In the darkness in the valley
even the crickets make no movement
every creature is hushed in anticipation
listening to such contentment

The moon is softly glowing
the stars do brightly shine
the magic that feels the air
would surely prickle your spine

Triumphant in his royalty
the majestic dragon proudly roars
he has astonished his mate with his passion
together in the skies they now soar

Many moons thereafter
her love flows like a fountain
and she trudges up the path alone
to the crest of Fire Mountain

In the shadows she makes no sounds
as she prepares for his gift from that night
a gentle breeze nestles her while she awaits
for her hatchlings a dragon’s delight

Hide and Seek

Fear crept up his spine
A ringing centipede of ice.
Hunched, trembling under sheets
A voice but an echo
Floated from the shadow
"Let's play Hide and Seek,
I'll count to ten
No one will find you again."

As all but the game is of darkness
A ghost of fame
Known is his shame
Under the echo's rigs torn sheets
I will hide
Let's see if this is my dream
As I think
Can you see my soul
In this game of ten counts

The rattle of chains
Heavy binds dragging
Muted laughter in the distance
Weeping fading into the gloom
Spirited throughout the room
His limbs frigid and weak
"Let us begin
You just have to let me in"

To calm the silent cries
As there is no boundaries
For you are the chapter
In alliance
For you shall master
Inside the beauty of garden
That is the bed of ballroom darkness

When the silence stills
The cries and laughter fray
It is time to play
We shall dance a dreary waltz
In the glow of silver
Carried away by the moonlight
Off into a dismal night

Shall be filled dreams
In saintly of moons all
Ray's within the kiss
That is fallen in seek
For darkness has a way
That the bones ache
In shivers of warmth depth
For high is loves peek

As a memory you shall fade
Like the ghost to the dying night
Before the dawn
You will be gone
Hidden far far away
They can have your body
Though less than a zombie
For I have kept the best
Your soul is now mine
The darkness can have the rest

Unearthly Treasures

Unearthly treasures dug, rings stripped from bone,

Greed doth speak, some things better left alone.

Terror instilled, from their graves they fly free,

Disturbed, robbed, angry now they move hauntingly.

Tis indeed a deadly omen, the darkened sky weeps,

The further they dig, upon the ground blood seeps.

They cannot know, they should have left it alone,

But they had to rip that ring from her bone.

Now she screams, more of a banshee wail,

Would but they live to tell her torturous tale.

Thunder rages, lightning glides across her rotted skin,

And as he looks upon her he knows his life is at an end.

Too far in the cave to escape her wrath,

His hope fades as boulders drop in his path.

To be buried alive with the dead Queen of Souls,

Over a priceless ring made of pure gold.

Oh how he had laughed, nothing but a fable,

His friends dared him, money on the table.

He traveled alone, on the morrow they would come,

But time was unkind, he would be dead with the sun.

She was here, she was there, darkness took his mind,

He tried to open his eyes, sightless, tears, so blind.

He tried to cry, tried to ask forgiveness, tried to speak,

Such was the fog in his brain he could not think.

As he shuddered in the darkness he could feel her claws,

And wished she would just hurry and end it all.

No, that would not happen, oh she could not let that be,

For she had found a mate for her eternity.
